It’s still chilly in my neck of the woods, and my coats are earning their keep. I paired a much-loved white boucle Tahari duster with a navy-and-white striped sweater and comfortable jeggings. The beret had been sitting in my closet, adorable but intimidating, the sort of item that requires confidence or many glasses of wine. Today, I possessed neither. Summoning the courage of every Southern woman I’ve ever known, I grabbed the beret.
