All I want from jeans is everything: a flattering fit, subtle lift, extreme comfort, and a touch of magic. Mission impossible, right? Me, I’ve always had an uneasy relationship with denim. Before the days of spandex, I simply avoided pants. Period. And for good reason–all brands and styles made me look wide, lumpy, and stumpy. “You’re a Hobbit,” a family member said, covering her eyes. Well, I have curves, and my weight has been known to fluctuate (I like to eat). I gave a silent amen when stretchy jeans hit the market, and I didn’t mind when the fabric lost its shape. A stylist at Nordstrom’s Trunk Club talked me into trying AG Skinny Leggings, and I never looked back. They “get” me, sculpting without suffocating. I chose a color called “18 Years Cruising,” a distressed blue. The hem is raw edged, slightly frayed. I have other brands in my closet, and I like them fine, but AG gives a girl a little extra help.
I’m also fond of Old Navy denim, Joe’s Jeans, and NYDJ Sculpted Denim Leggings. I usually buy a size bigger in Old Navy, and I go down a size in NYDJ and Joe’s. It’s popular to wear Spanx under jeans for extra lift, but to me, it feels like sausage casing.
The tote is also from Belk. The jewelry is from their Crown and Ivy collection–Preppy Picnic.
